[UKH-六]

여섯

부수: 八
획수: 4획

simply means six.

=

X = unknown

How came to represent ‘six’ is unknown. One theory suggests the original form depicted a person’s two thumbs and two index fingers pressed together creating an upward-pointing arrowhead shape. The renaming six fingers remain free (this makes sense if you try it yourself).

Others suggest that the character depicted a roof and this was a phonetic loan for a character meaning ‘clenched fist’, which was a way to count six on one hand.

Another theory suggests that is simply a geometric symbol.

Mnemonic

The uncertainty surrounding the origin of means there is no appropriate mnemonic.

One approach is to consider how looks like the stick figure of the Blair Witch and relate this to the devil’s number ‘666’.
